Elizabeth Hall Magill holds degrees in English from the College of William and Mary and James Madison University. She has been a technical writer for IBM and taught college-level writing and gender courses. In the spring of 2011, she began blogging about women’s studies issues. Posts from her blog (originally named Yo Mama) have been been featured on BlogHer (Spotlight BlogHer), The Representation Project’s Sexy or Sexism campaign, and Girls Re(write) Herstory.
In addition to teaching women’s studies topics in the classroom, Elizabeth has facilitated small-group discussions for general audiences. She has served as both a panelist and a moderator for the Empowering Girls panel at the Virginia Children’s Book Festival. She is available to give presentations and facilitate workshops on a variety of topics. Elizabeth is currently writing a book entitled American Sexism: Questions and Answers that presents academic concepts about sex, gender, race, and class to a general audience.
