Ingaladdi Sun Woman Ingaladdi Sun Woman is painted around a vulva like natural rock cavity in the Victoria River District of Australia’s Northern Territory. The energy lines around her head and her large vulva suggest Walu, the Aborigine Mother Sun who gives birth to the world. Surrounding Ingaladdi is another rock painting which also portrays the radiant energy of the sun.

  1. As a Caucasian Australian (Woman) who’s been cautioned by Indigenous friends/scholars, about appropriation of Aboriginal culture, I ask if Lydia would provide more context to permissions sought and granted from Elders of the “Country” she has taken this image from? I support Goddess revival most strongly, but have learnt, that even my most well intentioned projects/ideas can be compromised by unconscious Imperialist/Invader mentalities of the European Patriarchy in which I’ve been brought up and still live within. If Lydia has not sought and been granted permission for reproduction of this sacred Rock Art Image (and/or her artistic interpretation of this sacred image) this a transgression that she may wish to know of, and remedy. Best Wishes – Mel
