(Poem) Beginning Again by Glenys Livingstone

Artist: Cynthia Baxter, 1980

The Mother within reweaves the Fabric

– the torn Fabric

torn in the weak spots.

She sets to work with all Her love and consciousness

picking up the threads

– threads that go all the way back to the beginning

She uses these, yet makes new patterns.

Mercifully Erishkagel, Crone  – Her partner

has destroyed old patterns.

Erishkagel has washed away the debris

with Her storm and tempest.

Artemis, virgin, spiritual warrior,

fiercely guards and nurtures the new

She is faithful to the heart that seeks

fullness, wholeness

She will constellate in the heart’s night sky

and call forth right direction.

  1. thank you Harriet. I was particularly pleased to be able to include the art by Cynthia Baxter. I had to google to find her, and ask permission. She sent this to me (better than the photographed version I was going to use) and she loved the poem – it was timely for her.

  2. I’m so glad “Beginning Again” reappears in “Return to Mago” in 2015. It feels like the perfect poem for the times. (Well, for all times, but especially now.)
