(Poem) Persevere by Maya Daniel

persevere-by-maya-daniel
Persevere
Let the day unfold
And the writings be of poetry
The enemies will never understand
The metaphor of words,

Of people and the pebbles
The perseverance of strangling fig
That splits even the hardest rocks
Persevere! Saxifrage is a flower
That grows on splintered rocks.

  1. Oh, just lovely – whenever I am teetering on the edge of despair I go outdoors and see the mist rising off the river or a stone that is being slowly split by a rooted tree and balance is restored. Nature knows about tenacity and metaphor, I believe.
