(Poem) We Belong Here by Mary Saracino

We belong here.

The seeds we sow,

the harvest we reap

create our cultural legacy,

rooted in ancient memories

of plants, and place, and people,

woven together

by time and heritage.

We are of this earth,

made of soil and soul.

We are of this land,

as much a part of it

as the stones and trees,

the sky and water.

We share our stories to remember,

bequeathing our inheritance

to our sons and daughters,

honoring our gifts,

celebrating our intergenerational bonds.

We belong here,

and here belongs to us,

our blood and bones,

our minds and hearts,

our eyes and hands,

our sweat and tears,

blessing the fields

and one another

forever

and ever

and ever.
